e-Bay 2nd chance- Possible shill or scam?

HeywoodHeywood Posts: 1,246 ✭✭✭
i got into a bidding war over the past few days with another bidder on a modern jun k coin (IKE).

I stopped bidding when i found other BIN offers on the same grade coin for well below my bid

less than 2 min after the auction ended, I got a second chance offer at my lasat bid.

Is that common to happen so soon?

what could be a normal explaination for this, I have had other 2nd chance, but they were always scam e-mails, this one was on the e-bay site.

If it doesn't show up somewhere on your eBay "all buying" summary, it's a scam.
    When in doubt, don't.

I don't trust any of the second chance offers. The only one I ever took up was a scam right through the ebay system. The seller was booted, but I still was scammed. Good thing it was for a small dollar amount.

It came though the e-bay system, (under the "didn't win" tab)

but what puzzels me is how fast the 2nd chance offer came in after the auction ended! (less than 3 minutes!)

When I have multiples of the same coin in the same grade (generic type stuff...not PQ or wildly toned or anything like that) I often auction one off with no reserve and send 2nd chance offers to the underbidder or possibly underbidders if their max bids are high enough. I usually follow with a note explaining why they received the offer from me and that they will get a different coin, different serial number on the slab, etc.

  • Seller probably had a second coin he/she is willing to sell at you losing bid level. Probably not a scam but s simple email to the seller could confirm the offer.

I was just about to edit my post with the duplicate coin explaination.

Everyone here has made me scam/shill paranoid
