That seems to just apply to consignments... at least for the most part, or in some instances, when you buy things specifically for resale...

George, several people who post here state in their eBay auctions that they take consignments. I thought they would want to be aware of the states who are trying to get a piece of the action.

Never had the pleasure! I do my best NOT to travel the New England area. However, this upcoming week I elected to haul trees into New Hampshire but the load was cancelled. Connecticut & Mass. DOT are tough. I would've liked to have made the NH. run because I would've had the chance to meet and have breakfast with Darin (a.k.a. D5... fellow fourmite). Maybe next week.image

Vermont makes the CT and MA guys look like the Keystone Cops. NH isn't bad. The best way I can describe the VT guys is the term "nitpick". They'll write you up for stupid stuff like not putting the address of your company in your log book.

The TN and OH laws will tend to shut down the "drop off" businesses, because they will be able to trace them. In order for the drop off business to trive they will have to advertise and that will let the authorities find them and enforce the laws. The Illinois law is the one that is unenforceable. How are you going to track down everyone who sells to an Illinois resident and require them to pay for a auctionerrs license.

  • More moron Liberal idiots. This will never fly. Sellers on E-Bay are NOT auctioneers, they are consignors. E-Bay is the auctioneer. Any idiot can figure that out.
