SGC Blue Colored Flip

Can someone tell me the history behind these suckers? I recently bought a card that had one of these deals, and I was curious if the masses here know anything about it. The card is a 2000 UD Graded Jersey #G-BF Brett Favre (SG, LLC 1146643-003). I looked in the SGC Population Report, but didn't see it (unless I missed it).

Anyone have any ideas about it? TIA for your replies!

I've never ever have seen a SGC graded card with a blue flip. Got a scan?

Are you sure it's SGC as in SPORTSCARD GUARANTY?

It should have a hologram logo on the back of the flip that will look something like this.

Maybe blue is for modern cards. Following Bekcett's lead with the different flips? (ie BVG, BGS, BCCG, etc.) Not a good idea.
  • I believe the blue flip was used for cards that were graded for the card manufacturers -- for retail distribution within boxes.

Koby, there was a very short lived SGC spinoff (along the lines of Beckett's BCCG), but I do not think that's what this is. I think it was called SGM or something like that.

If memory serves, SGC did a promo with UD and thats why they are blue. Only UD cards as previously mentioned.

SGC had a contractual agreement with UD for 2000.
It was a big thing that year since they were the "official"
grading company for UD. They also did the 2000 UD Pros & Prospect
Hockey. It was one graded card per box for the hockey as I recall.
    Also blue label.

That is a relief as we will not have to worry about them being cracked out, possibly restored and then crossed over, sold at some show where a fight could break out, resulting in a police report.

    Good for you.

The blue label looks better than green.
