Dot Coin Scan Posted--VAM Folks: What is the value of VAM 14.3 on the 1878-8TF? 1921-P Dot Coins

Welp, two questions and picture to come tonight.

1) Is there a good place to find which 8 TF VAMs bring the premiums? I have a VAM 14.3 in XF/AU and was wondering its premium over the normal. I forgot who posted it last night about an MS65, but I looked at mine again and it is 14.3.

2) Was looking for a couple of coins to submit to PCGS as my freebies and for the first time on this 1921-P which I have looked at numerous times before, I found a dot. I do not recall a listing for this dot coin and was wondering what people know about it. I will post a scan tonight, but in the mean time, the dot is right next to the second right star (right of the date that is) on the right hand side.

Thanks, Richard.

  • according to vam updates still rated as a I3 R7 so must command a fairly decent premium for #1
#2 no listings that I see say anything about dot next to 2nd star

  • Richard,
Post the dot coin pic and I'll try to help. Not much premium on the 21-P dot coins except if you find the most rabid of vam-fever collectors. I've got several and am trying to round out the set so once I know what it is, I'm happy to offer a trade or a purchase image Guess I qualify as infected.

I've sold/traded a couple of vam 14.3 coins. Same die as used with proof coins. Very modest premiums over common
    as the vam is available.

I'd say a problem-free 14.3 in XF is worth $30ish and an AU is $60ish.
    When in doubt, don't.

I just loaded two pictures and well, you cannot really see the dot. Well, you can in the close up if you know what you are looking at. As you are looking at the top picture, the dot is about NE of the second star to the right of the date. Right by the point of the star.

    Can you see it?

    Rob,

I want the VAM 8A you sniped from me last week. I thought I had a high bid price. Boy, you sure fooled me. imageimage
  • Richard,
Sorry about the 8A, altough its not really my doing. PM Wolfe359 for the scoop!

On the dot coin, I can't put it to a known VAM. Is it definitely a round dot or is it a die chip. Dots are really circular and in the photo I can't tell if it is near perfect or irregular.
