Post Pics of your PCGS Nasties

Just like the title says. Everybody seems to agree that PCGS is the best grading service out there. We all applaud them when they get it right. However, let's share some pictures of the coins that PCGS got WRONG. I'm talking about obviously dipped, cleaned, scratched, improperly graded, etc. that still managed to find their way into PCGS holders. When I say "improperly graded", I'm not talking about coins that you thought deserved MS64 and only received an MS63 grade. I'm talking about coins that were severly undergraded or overgraded.

C'mon, let's see 'em! I'll start things off with an obviously dipped and scrubbed Barber Half:

Wow, few to post on this one. Must be a fear of getting kicked off the PCGS forums!

Sorry, no nasty looking coins from me. I don't buy the funny looking ones.

I enjoy the slab "errors" from all the services. I won't pay too much for them (some premium of course) . . . but they are fun. Wrong dates . . wrong mintmarks . . and totally wrong coins in the Commem series are what I have so far. Not botched grading . . . although I have had the joy of owning a VF-35 1901 Indian that came back in a major holder as MS62. No . . . I DIDN'T send in a VF-35 . . . I bought it already slabbed for the fun of ownership.

Like they say . . . buy the coin . . . not the holder . . . unless you want the error slab! :-)

    Not capable of posting pics . . . but someday . . .

Here's an error for the grade. It closed recently on eBay.

    mislabel or misgrade?

  • Here's another Barber half..

Would you agree with the grade?

I got the 1968 MS66 FS (Yes, its FULL STEP designated) Roosevelt dime.

I am looking for the 1968 FULL BAND Jefferson nickel to match.

Edited to add: Clackamas can be very persuasive. The coin is now his property.image

I want that coin, it will go well with MY MS69 1968-S Jefferson, yes MS69, it is actually a proof coin and a DCAM IMO but staying in the MS69 holder.
