Need to see the reverse and know what service you are asking with respect to.

I imagine the toning is covering an old cleaning, but don't be disheartened, most bust halves have been cleaned at some point. It's not a bad looking coin.

The coin looks to be around VF-30; I don't think it's worth sending it to be slabbed anyway, especially if you think it might BB.

The surfaces are pretty rough, especially the obverse. I think it will BB. Nontheless, an attractive coin.
  • I'll say EF 45. Nice coin

Nice coin image I like !!

I agree with what Nap said.

Send it to my house and I won't BB it. image

But I suspect the 2 "big boys" will.

Based on the number of truely crappy bust coins I have seen holdered by both of these outstanding companies each of whom swear that one of their lables guarantees the quality of the coin I would say yes they would slab it while quietly net grading it down to approxamately VF 25 to 30.

Just because I'm old doesn't mean I don't love to look at a pretty bust.

I think both PCGS and NGC would slab the coin, however, might I ask why you would like to have it slabbed? The grade is fairly straightforward to determine on these, and you aren't looking at a big jump in money or liquidity should the coin come back higher than you think it might deserve. In fact, if they decide to lower the grade based upon the slightly rough surfaces or the possibility that the coin were gently cleaned at one time, then you will lose money and liquidity when you decide to sell. Based upon the single set of images, I like the coin much better raw and to save the grading fee.

I agree with TomB- I think it would slab, but I don't see any reason to slab it- save yourself the money and hassle.....image

It's a crapshoot if it will grade or not. I like it as a VF30.

  • As usual, I agree with Tom. It would definitely slab, but it's too nice of a coin to be imprisoned in a plastic shell. Keep her raw and enjoy her!
