FB Rack Packs

1981 FB Rack Packs.

Since you can see the top and bottom cards i was wondering if there was a known pattern to who is in the rest of the pack. Would like to buy some rack packs but seems foolish if a seller knows whats in the packs just by whos on top.
So, anyone know??

TIA

Chuck

  • There is a pattern for most years. This is why we only buy sealed cases, unless we know it's from a good source.

I won about 10 1981 football racks from an eBay dealer about 8 months ago. After opening and counting, I realized the collation was horrible, and none of the best 6 cards in the set were found, though I got something like 5 Dwight Clark rookies and Jim Plunkett cards. The racks were definitely picked over by someone who knew the order of the cards in the packs. I've seen the same with 85 Topps baseball, where people took out all of the McGwire and Clemens racks. Sad, but it doesn't seem that rare.
  • You wouldnt want to let us all know the ebayers handle would ya?

The seller I purchased from has thousands of transactions and 100% feedback, so I'm not ready to name them in public. I suspect that he was sold the racks and resold them to me not knowing their history. Maybe the previous owner was the one doing the searching of the racks. Luckilly for me, the price was fairly low, so I wasn't out as much as if I had bought them at full retail (though I didn't get any of the high $ cards either).
