I didn't know the Denver mint was minting coins in 1857

I thought this was an interesting auction. I hadn't realized that the Denver mint was making half dimes in 1857. And this isn't just the seller's misprint. It looks like the grading service feels this way too.

That's about as good as the 1920- "D" Pilgrim half I saw in an ACG holder somewhere (maybe on K6AZ's site?)
I will own an 1850's D-mint coin one day... but it won't be Denver. Maybe I'll dig one at one of these old plantation sites.

Colorado entered the Union in 1876 and they did not build the mint until after 1900. Production started in 1906.
