Just wondering if anybody here knows of a reputable source from which I could acquire one of the 2004 bimetallic 1 Lat coins. I have seen a few up on eBay, but am a little leary of the sellers ... i.e. bidder's id kept private and send money order for coin to Riga, Latvia.

So many coins, so little time.
Steve, I've bought a number of banknotes and medals from sellers in each of the Baltic States and have never had a problem. Typically I've paid with BidPay. If you aren't dealing in "serious money," you'll probably be okay.

Got the payment information today and will be sending payment out when I get home this evening. I will post again when the coin arrives just as an update as to how long it took to receive the coin.

Received confirmation that payment was received by the seller and the coin is on its way. Unfortunately for others ... according to the seller the central bank in Riga has sold out of these coins and they are becoming very difficult to find. Supposedly there will be another design out in the next month or so ...

The coin arrived safely in today's mail ... medallic strike with a little roughness on the edges left over from minting.
Well ... back to eyeing another coin the same seller has up on eBay ... nice little gold piece for $45.
