It looks like it was struck on a 1943 Mercury dime planchet.

The "poor man's double die" is a way outdated term for late die state coins - very common. Machine doubling is worthless anyway, so wither way it doesn't really matter. The question is whether there is anything of value in them...

  • Well, They are all at least MS 64 or better, all are sharp and as for the value? Not real worried, I like themimage

Russ seems to be challenged with anything pre-1964... image

As for the pictures you posted they all look like they were taken of a normal 1955D cent - nothing unusual about them from what I can see.

There are some nice RPMs for the date, one I've found is RPM #2 and is especially strong. Also, there is a minor doubled die for the date, visible mainly on the eyelid. Check out coppercoins' site for other things to look for (no overdates, though image ).

Your photo of an eye is not a doubled die. That's a normal coin from what I can see. The doubled die is easy to distinguish. I take a bit of difference with Sean who says it's minor...I don't think so. It's a really nice doubled die.
