Im doing a report on the mint and the history of united states currency and coins. i did find one mag that was a big help but does anyone have good books they can suggest or know of good articals that i should look for in the local libary? please let me know cause i could use all the help i can get . also since im gonna go to the libary just lookin for a list of books that might help

Cherrypickers guide has a nice chapter about the minting process too.
For some history on the St. Gauden's double eagles, see if your library has "Illegal Tender" by David Tripp (my current read). It has a lot of history of the mint, politics at the time, the gold recall, and how some pattern pieces (and the 1933s) got out.
I'm sure some others will add additional specific titles but I hope that helps based on my experience so far.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.
