I hope this subject isn't taboo - has anyone picked up the NGC Grading Guide?

At a book store recently I saw and picked up the NGC Grading guide for modern US coins. 1st Edition
Written by Richard S. Mongomery and David W. Lang.
Since I have several books by Lang, I thought this was a pretty good bet to be interesting.
It seems to be a nice, but not exceptional reference for how to analyze modern coins (including information on PROOF sets, modern commems, as well as gold, silver and platinum bullion coins).
I would like to see a similar reference on classic age US coins, but that may require several volumes rather than one spiral bound reference.
I find it to be at least as informational as the PGCS grading guides, minus the section on counterfeit detection.
There is a section (actually most of the book) that addresses the current (2004) pops for NGC certified moderns. This is interesting and somewhat informational, but as with anything of that nature, it's obsolete the moment someone took the time to write it down. As long as you're not looking at a "real-time" updated reference that can account for resubmissions, there is something lacking in population reports. But I suppose it is the best information that we have at this time.
Just thought I'd test the waters here and see if anyone has a similar or opposed opinion on this book.

Sorry, I was thinking about the ICG Guide. The NGC Guide is what Xpipe said.
