Can anybody recommend any good resource titles on Clad collecting?

Does anyone know of any titles of a good reference book on Clad collecting?
Also, any recommended online dealers of gem rolls and/or PCGS 66+ slabs? Thanks in advance.

I know of no good reference, but there are lots of good threads on this forum. Todd Abbey of Cameo Coin is a good guy, forum member, and he specializes in moderns. His site is decent and he sends a nice mailer. The site

I know Ginger Rapsus wrote a book on clad coinage, but that was quite a while ago.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

This one was "The United States Clad Coinage" -1992. It's an excellent reference but has little
detail information on the coins themselves. It also makes interesting reading.

There are several good books on specific denominations including three on Ike dollars,
a couple on Kennedy halfs, and one on dimes. Clads are also mentioned in several other
references which deal primarily with older issues such as The RPM Book and The Cherry-
pickers Guide. There is some info in Tomaska's book also.
    Tempus fugit.

My advice would be to do an advanced search on this forum. Type in author---cladking. Lots of interesting and informative posts there!

  • I have Tomaska's Cameo and Brilliant Proof coinage, but that only goes thru 1970, though I read he's working on a work that includes more modern coinage. I did a search on Cladkings postings as author a couple of months back.
But, I agree, the forum is as valuable as a reference book. I guess I'm trying to develop a buying strategy, settle on appropriiate coin values, a variations, etc. image
