    DPoole: awesome sets indeed!

    Congrats.

What is the difference between a coin with the pedigree of "so and so" versus the "ex-so and so?"

I was not sure if there was a difference?

    Oops. I'm back to #2.

Seems that Bruce hadn't entered one of the coins he'd had in his set.

Oh, well. It was fun while it lasted! image

Still, #2 behind Scher ain't bad. image

Oreville: I didn't intend to suggest a difference. Is there some convention about attributing a coin when it'd come from another set? What my notations mean (to me) are that I specify a seller, and the "ex" means that it had come from a pedigreed collection at auction.

Well I guess im back at least in the "oldtimer section"..David has chased so long I am glad to see him at the top in the current list and wont be at all surprised if he surpass's my set sometime soon..by the way for those that watch the missing coin was a real pretty 1865 67DC and it now resides in Davids set, a unique coin absolutely.

Dpoole: So there is indeed a difference as I thought?

So (1) A name mentioned without the ex before it means you bought the coin directly from the seller and (2) the ex-name of former owner means you bought the pedigreed coin through a third party including auctions?

Bruce: Oldtimer indeed but NOT forgotten!

  • Congrats David!

You're not fooling me, however. Just think back to when and where I first met you. Was it just a coincidence that you were lurking at Andy's table? I think not. Once a Lincoln collector, always a Lincoln collector. image

Congratulations on a terrific set, David! I love those odd denominations!
