Is this a Double Die?

I am very new at this and was looking through som quarters in my change bucket. Found this, looked odd to me and I wanted to know if anyone know , Is this rare? Is this good? What do i do with it now? : ) I like it so I will keep it regardless but just curious as to how other people react to it.

If you are looking at the extra "ring" around the edge at the top of the coin, then no, its a slighly off center strike. Very common.

    Welcome to the forum!

Maybe some Washie experts will have something more helpful but
the pic is kind of small. The IGWT (In God We Trust) does look a little
wider than usual, I think image

Looks like a misaligned die strike to me.

It's a minor horizontal misalignment of the obverse (hammer) die. 1982 quarters have an extremely narrow design rim, so even a slight misalignment causes design elements at the opposite pole to hug or run off the edge.

No market for thoes that I know of. I have hundreds of that type of offset with the double lookiing rim. They appear in every denomination of coin that I have ever collected. Every time I find any kind of error, I put it in thoes 2"x2" cardboard holders and now have five boxes of them. A large portion are the ones with double looking rims on the front or back. I've checked numerous coin shows around here and with dealers and just no market for them around here. We have several coin shows a month so been to plenty and don't even see thoes for sale. I keep them anyway.

image Save it as a pocket piece. Slightly off-center strike. Common, but fun to show to your friends. Tell them the mint worker had a bad hair day when it was struck.image

Ok, thanks for the info Jonesy, helped a bunch. And thanks for the replies to my somewhat dumbwitted question, lol. Appreciate the help. Hopefully this picture came out ok, I used my scanner to scan coin then enlarged (the best I can do right now, lol). If it looks ok I will post some other coins I would appreciate feedback on. Much appreciated!!!image
