If you could pick only one reference book for Large Cents, what would it be?

United States Copper Cents 1816-1857, by Howard R. Newcomb
The Cent Book 1816-1839, by John D. Wright
United States Large Cents, Volumes I & II, by William C. Noyes
Penny Whimsy, by Dr. William H. Sheldon
Walter Breen's Encyclopedia of United States Cents 1793-1814, by Walter Breen and Mark Borckardt

I agree ... unless you want the early dates, too. Then you're gonna need two books.

For excellent info and detail on varieties, you can't beat Wright's book for middle dates. If that one appeals to you, go after Bob Grellman's book for the same detailed data on the late dates.

United States Large Cents, Volumes I & II, by William C. Noyes, and, you'll also need Grellman's latest edition if you are serious about Late Dates.

I would concure with the Noyes book Breen is a great one for the early dates only.
