Pretty nice 1965 SMS Jefferson Nickel I picked up today.

Made my bi-monthly trip to one of the shops around here and scored my very first DCAM 1965:

It doesn't have the usual strange crescent haze but, unfortunately, it has a lot of crap in the fields. I don't think it's the correctable kind of crap, either. Still a hell of a strong example for $11. image

Also picked up a couple nice cameo Frankies - a 1957 and a 1962.

Nice nickel too, and a rare cameo for a modern image. (As if you didn't know)

Very early strike coin, and it doesn't have the cloudy area above Monticello that is usually seen as a result of the amount of metal required to fill the bust on the obverse. KILLER frost and mirrors for a 65. I think it might do better than you expect, and it sure looks dcam. image

DCAM? DCAM? Man ... send that puppy off and I await the news. I'll save the coronary until the grade posts! image Considering there's 14 of these in all grades in DCAM, methinks PCGS is going to want super clean fields. In other words, a walk-on-water coin ...

Way to go, Russ. Another fine Jefferson.

Actually, there are 15 in DCAM now. Marty just made an MS66DCAM.

I have owned two of the 65 dcam's and that one has as strong a frost as either of them. I am a bit concerned about the stuff in the fields.

But still an outstanding snag at $11.

Very nice 1956 SMS nickel. Definitely has DCAM frost. As far as the fields go, who cares if they are not of the smooth deep mirrored type (not many 65 SMS nickels are).

I would have no trouble paying $11.00 for an SMS set that has that nickel (I paid $10.00 for just such a set a few years ago). Your net cost basis would be $10.14 and upon a resale, I expect that you would find that you would have to pay a tax on your capital gain.

I also like the Frankies, particularly the 1957. Russ, is this the first raw 1957 CAM Frankie you have found? I have looked for 6+ years and finally found 3 raw 1957 CAMDCAM frankies last November at the Santa Clara show.

Geezz, you sure know where to find them...I think it's still a great looking coin with the fields being the way they are...

That reverse on the 1962 is INCREDIBLE. Really nice finds Russ. imageimage

Russ, congrats on finding your first 1957 CAM frankie. Was it in an original 1957 proof set (govt. packaging), was it in an assembled set or was it a single coin? How much did it cost? Finally what do you think it will grade at (any possiblity of DCAM)?

Again, congratulations, 1957 CAM Frankies are tough to find.
