SMR $8,500
SOLD: $10,000+
POP 1/10 PSA 8s, 2 PSA 9s, no 10s.
Now is it me, or does this seem like a borderline 8 due to the OC on the back? Insanely beautiful card no doubt, for some reason i'm a little surprised at the selling price considering the back. Maybe its just my wishful thinking...

NM-MT 8: Near Mint-Mint.
A PSA NM-MT 8 is a super high-end card that appears Mint 9 at first glance, but upon closer inspection, the card can exhibit the following: a very slight wax stain on reverse, slightest fraying at one or two corners, a minor printing imperfection, and/or slightly off-white borders. Centering must be approximately 65/35 to 70/30 or better on the front and 90/10 or better on the reverse.
do my search of "psa*" and "bgs*" and then select highest prices
to see what is selling for big bucks in the graded card word. Most
of the time, its nothing big. However, every once in a while a card
will show up worth noting. I do think that this is a borderline PSA 8.
But then again, how often does a card like this come up for auction,
on ebay much less? Not too often, I'd imagine. That may justify the
high bidding. Just my take.

As for the centering, it may fall within guidelines for an 8, but the first thing I notice is how off it is. Even if it is 80/20. Personally I think PSA is too generous with the 90/10 on the rear for a 8, and the 60/40 for a 10 on the front. Either way, if the centering on the reverse was as strong as the front, i'm sure the price would have been another few grand more. Probably pushing the standard 150% of SMR for pre-war.

But does it really matter at this point? It's in a legitimate PSA 8 holder, and the supply of this card in PSA 8 and above will never meet the demand.
The upper right corner looks a little funky because it has a very slight diamond cut. I have a couple 7s that have this cut a little worse than this one. I agree, it does mess with your eyes a bit, but is VERY common with this issue. Either way, we are all right it is a nice card for 100+ benjis!!!!!
