SGC *does not* guarantee that the old holders would go into a present-day holder at the same grade....
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.
mikeschmidt- Interesting to hear that... Any explanation as to why? Seems it would put a lot of distrust in them altogether if they admitted that there old "standards" were too lenient or their old graders were not trained properly or had some outside influence issues.
WWPSAD? (what would PSA do?). Would they guarantee old holders crossing into today's holder, with increased scrutiny? I wouldn't be surprised if the answer was no to any of them. Let's face it, grading has evolved over the years...I've seen some older holder cards that didn't really look like they belong. I'd say everything has been refined with time and experience.
Ted Williams, Willie Mays, Tom Seaver, Mike Schmidt, George Brett, Bob Gibson, Lou Brock player collector

The reason is that the cards are overgraded, often.
Different ownership structure. It was the Merkel years as well - which had a few problems overall. There is an inherent discount on prices realized for all SGC cards in the old holder.

<< <i>What about it? >>
Probably that it shows SGC 88, 7.5
SGC 88 = 8.0
SGC 86 = 7.5
I'm not sure what is going on
