Collecting Buddies

Hello all,
I went home for the weekend (from college) and I got to see some relatives and such and it got me thinking. Does anybody here have someone they collect with or that they talk coins with other than a local dealer or the forums? Maybe a Relative, significant other, or child?
Now that the question is out there, I would like to tell you who I collect with
My collecting buddy is my grandmother. I got her started on the state quarters and now she just can't get enough when it comes to coins. Her and my grandfather own a local shop in my hometown that carries party supplies, greeting cards and other decorations and misc. stuff. Now that my grandfather is semi-retired she spends most of her time at the register and with customers and this gives her the opportunity to handle quite a bit of money on a regular basis. I go down to the shop weekly when I am in town just to chat with her and share my latest coins and see what she has come up with. Now with college started back up for the semester, this past weekend is the first time ive gotten home since mid-january and boy was it nice to have a cup of coffee and talk with her. This has been going on for 3 or 4 years now and I can't even describe how much closer it has brought us. I used to only see her on major holidays and birthdays, now those are just a bonus. I learn something new everytime we hang out and I wouldn't trade it for anything. Its nice to be able to share the interest with somebody. My favorite part are birthdays and christmas now, because I have someone who knows what I am talking about FINALLY and I get to buy coins for her too! The rest of my family seems to think its quite strange when my grandmother or I get so excited over a coin(they just can't see them as anything else other than pocket change). and they wonder why i'm laughing when they are getting winnie the Pooh figurines for gifts
While I was home she also harassed me about what I want for my upcoming birthday (21 on March 25tth), and she got the usual answer. "Just Suprise Me" She always finds something unique that I don't have. Not that it really matters anyways, I'll cherish whatever I recieve.

My only collecting buddy was my dad, he passed away 18 years ago. This forum is the only place I have to talk coins and it's full of collecting buddies!!

I found this board so I could ask questions and discuss things with people that know as much or more then I do, which is always helpful.

Now, if I can only get him to let me go through all those rolls of mercs he has squirrelled away
My grandparents have quite a stash too, they tease me with parts of it once in a while. They actually pulled out a plastic ice cream bucket full of misc. silver, silver certificates, and some red seals. I got to pick out a few coins as a christmas gift, but from what my dad tells me there is much more that they aren't showing me. I hope to see it eventually.
