Is this a VAM?

Its a 1898 Morgan and there is a "ring" that goes all the way around the outside edge of the letters on the reverse. Also has a die crack mark from the rim to the I in United and from the I to the T and from the T to the E, then from the E back to the rim above the D. Whew!! Tried to attach a picture...but cant seem to take a small enough one.

Hard to tell without a picture. Just downsize your picture in photoshop or something and then attach it.

FYI-Every Morgan Dollar is a VAM, just some bring larger premiums than others. If a coin has a particular feature that is not on any other variety of that date and MM, then it may be: 1) a newly discovered variety, or 2) only a minor feature that does not warrant a separate VAM number in which case the original VAM for the date and mm would apply.

I think what I stated is correct. Someone may correct me if I am wrong.
  • Unfortunately I do not have photoshop...I have Adobe PhotoDeluxe and it creates its own file type that I cant change to jpg. I appreciate your information though. THANKS!!!!!
  • I often open a pic that is way to big simply with PAINT under ACCESSORIES that comes with computers. Then, without even doing anything to it, resave it (change name if you want so you dont overwrite the original picture) and it's considerably smaller.

    makes sense, I hope.
