Does anyone have any idea approx how many 2 Roll sets the Mint produced for the Peace Medal and Keelboat Nickels?
And does it follow that this years production will be higher?
Just curious about the numbers behind the craze.

I've received one, and my wife one keelboat nickel in change -- both w/in the last two weeks or so.
I get them in change with some regularity--not frequently, but one a month or so--and I save every one!
I just posted to another buffalo nickel thread--I picked up 20 rolls this morning at the release event, but they were bank-wrapped, not mint wrapped!! (Maybe I didn't get there early enough!) They are already on ebay!

Last summer when the Mint launched the Keelboat Nickels at a ceremony here they were all bank wrapped. That's probably how they do it every where.
I was disappointed they didn't bring the special Westward Journey mint rolled P&D set, so I walked back over to the Mint store to the right - sold out!
I only got a couple yesterday, should've hit 'em hard then!

The hype is the buffalo, people love to collect buffalo's and with the price people are paying for the 2001 American Buffalo Commemorative $135 dealers are looking at a quick buck. People are buying these rolls on E-Bay already for $12.00 plus shipping cost. Around a 30% profit I calculate. Not bad..............
I can tell you they sold 9,719 two roll sets between12:30 and 1:05 cst yesterday because I ordered twice and that is the difference in the order numbers (assuming that they are in sequence). So, in 35 minutes they sold about 10,000 sets or 20,000 rolls, you can imagine that they sold a bunch of nickels from the time they opened till now. And, no, they are not bank wrapped, they have u.s. mint wrappers just like the previous nickels from the mint.
