pay pal problem.........

I havent sold anything in a while on e-bay and just this week listed some things for sale. One of my buyers used the Buy it Now. The E-mail I recieved from e-bay says the payment is pending to my old e-mail address which I changed several months ago in Paypal and e-bay. Will this money eventually make it to my new e-mail account? and if so when? The buyer just used buy it now last night, so I dont know how long it usually takes for it to post. Any help would be appreciated. tHanks-TB

I recently changed email addresses and therefore changed at ebay and paypal also. Here is the problem I had. When you sell an item many of your preferences are saved. On about page four of the process there is a place to put where to pay if using paypal. Even though I had notified paypal and ebay of my email address, I failed to recognize that my sell page still had my old email address and it didn't update on it's own. I don't know if this is how your buyer got your old email but if it is you need to change it.

To answer your question, I couldn't access my old email address so I couldn't get to the money. I had to email several different buyers to explain the situation to them and they in turn had to cancel their original payment and then resend with my new email. It was a hassel for everyone involved but they did so without any fuss.

Hope you get it all worked out.
  • with paypal you can have up to 7 email address for one account. I dont know your situation but paypal may still have your old address as a list of acceptable "payees".

Also payment maybe pending because of an "unconfirmed" address...physical address not email address.

Paypal does still have my address, If I go under the History section on Paypal I can actually look to see if anything has posted to that old e-mail address but it hasnt yet. And I was wondering if it would. I have contacted Paypal about the problem this Morning but havent heard back from them yet.

How long does it usually take for a payment to process through paypal anyway?

If you no longer have access to your old e-mail you won't be able to get the money. Have the buyer cancel the payment to your old address and resend it to your new e-mail. A buyer could get suspicious that it's somebody trying to scam him so let him know the incorrect address that he sent it to, and ask him what link he clicked on so you can fix the link with your new e-mail so he can resend it.
  • Whale is correct. have the buyer cancel payment and resend to the new address. I would ship the item for free. the buyer did everything right and you slowed the process by not updating your info. This is frustrating because it just happened to me when buying a christmas gift.

  • if the buyer looks at his paypal transactions it will say the funds are unclaimed. when he clicks on the transaction it will have an option to cancel. hope this helps.
