Looking for coins at face value? Don't go to the bank...

...host a poker game.

Y'all think I'm kidding?

Last weekend, as sort of a nostalgia thing for the weekly poker group, I put away my chips and asked people to bring their change. Since I knew not everyone would remember, I stopped by the bank on Thursday and picked up $120 in change ($60 in halves, $25 in GDs, $20 in quarters, $5 in dimes, and $10 in nickels). I searched through all 675 coins and the only thing I kept was my first (finally, yay!) keelboat nickel.

I got rid of about half the pre-searched at game time because some people only brought bills. At the end of a long, very entertaining night, I'm up a modest $10, and I've surreptitiously pulled out the following from the pots that came my way:

Nickels:
1 1939 (VG)
1 1942-P (F)
1 1943-S (VG)
1 1944-P (F)
1 1955-P (VF)
2 1957-D (VF, EF)
1 1960 (AU+)
1 2000-S (PF-58?)

Dimes:
1 1948-S (VG)
1 1962-D (EF)
1 1964-D (AU)
1 1966 Canadian (EF)

Quarters:
1 1963-D (AU)
1 1981-P (VF, small planchet clip)

Half Dollars:
2 1967 (Both EF)
1 1968 (EF/AU)

One of our players must have had to dig up a really old change jar. I wish I'd been able to pinpoint the source.
My coins can beat up your coins.
