ICG PF70 SBA Cross-Grade to PCGS PF70? Any Chance This Could Happen - Thoughts Please

Any chance that an ICG PF70 SBA could Cross-Grade to PCGS PF70? You guys seem to have a better opinion on ICG than I have. I have never done business with these guys, only PCGS and NGC.

    No...

1- ICG is notorious for overgrading moderns, and giving the 70 out excessively

2- PCGS doesn't take 70s as crossovers; must be submitted raw

DCAM. Just picked up a PCGS SBA PF70 1979, 1980, 1981 and 1999. Still looking for the magical 79 T2 and 81 T2 PF70's. Dam things just won't come out from the darkness. Been looking for a year now. Lots of 69's but no 70's.

It won't cross if you send it in still holdered by ICG as Jeremy said.....At least this is what I'm told: "PCGS needs to see the 3rd side and they won't crack it out to check." I'd go ahead and send it in raw.

AH, never thought about the 3rd side. We'll see what happens. If it is cheap enough to buy, then maybe it's worth trying.

What do you think? Worth $110.00 to break it out and try for a PF70 PCGS?

The Type 2s among the SBAs are hard to get. 40-something for both of them (plus the 1999) in 70DC at PCGS. LOTS of 69s, though, for all dates and varieties.

I'll go so far as to say no way PCGS will 70 a Ty2 unless you crack it out of there.

Pop is ZERO. Crack'in seems to be the only option. We'll have to see what happens.

Not a snowballs chance in hell it will cross at a 70, even after cracking, no f'ing way it will grade a PR70DCAM
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

No one will ever convince me that PCGS doesn't grade moderns on a percentage basis. It's a matter of being in the right spot at the right time. I have asked graders to explain the difference between a MS69 and MS70 and guess what, they can't!

I agree 100%. According to my local dealer contact that I trust, the difference between a 69 (Zero Errors) and a 70 (Zero Errors) is the strike. Well, the harder the strike and if they are in a good mood all depends on if you are going to get a 70.image
