David Hall needs a complete makeover

Did you ever look at David Hall and wonder who buys his clothes and in which year they were bought ? As one of the leaders in the Numismatic industry I believe he desperately needs a NEW WARDROBE. NO Hawaiian style shirts that look 10 years old.No pants that look like they are hand me downs from the 1950's.Get rid of those pleats David.

What do you think ?

I like him just the way is...

It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

  • I think he is better dressed then a lot of coin dealers.

Contact the "Ambush Makeover" TV show and they might hook him upimage

  • And he wears orange undershorts too I hear!!!!

  • Highly successful businessmen are often so immersed in what they do, the wardrobe gets neglected. Warren Buffet and Bill Gates are not snazzy dressers either. Also, check out the picture of Jim Halperin in the Forbes article (sorry I don't have a pic).
  • Out west when I see a guy wearing a Hawiian shirt I immediatly assume he is carrying a gun. If you are not weaing a jacket it is hard to conceal a pistol wearing anything but hawiian shirts. BTW for those of you shocked that someone may carry one, it is more common than you think, at least where I have lived in CA, and OR.

Under cover cops wear hawiian shirts, off duty cops, hawiians, and my dad. Of course it does not mean they are actually packing but I know too many people who wear them and are packing. Besides someone at PCGS better have damn have a gun.

  • One would think that after hanging around BJ all these years, some of her fashion-saavy would have wore off on him!

David has probably been wear Hawaiian shirts for years and finds them more comfortable than suits. It's a California thing I would imagine. Two other guys I know wears those shirts; one lives in Addison, IL and the other hangs out in Key West.

Years ago, in a former life as a corporate lackey, I worked with several millionaires who owned the company. Most of them dressed like slobs and looked like they slept in their clothes on the plane (which was frequently the case). They didn't worry about it, because they had nothing left to prove. It's only the wannabes who care about how somebody dresses.

  • be careful what you say i'm pretty sure on the PCGS website it says comments on David Halls apperance are prohibited. If you do your coins at PCGS right now will fall off the back of the trucks at the usps. image

Hmmm ... maybe Stewart secretly wants to dress like HRH and is trying to trick HRH into wearing something differentimage

  • While obviously now he has his own style -- so with Stewart pointing this out -- I don't think he should change it.

Matter of fact it'd be pretty funny to do a David Hall Day at the next LB show and have everyone wear Hawaiian shirts and tan/black pants.

I know I got a bunch of Tommy Bahama's that would work.

By the way -- Hawaiian is kinda in -- Tommy Bahama is making a killing selling $125+ silk shirts and $175 silk pants.

HRH might actually be "in style!"

I'm the Proud recipient of a genuine "you suck" award dated 1/24/05. I was accepted into the "Circle of Trust" on 3/9/09.
  • I'm sure a few of the SoCal guys that may be on these boards and have lived there for at least 5 years owns a minimum of 3 Hawaiian shirts, a couple of white pants and at least 2 pr of sandals- typical dress for that climate.

I lived in SoCal for 15 years- must of had 3 dozen Hawaiians, a bunch of Tommy B's and a multitude of Banana R's- the fit comfortably look wild and try wearing one in the corporate world when its casual day- gives everyone the idea you are headed for a vacation.
Hell I did that in Chicago 2 winters ago on the job site- my boss freaked- thought i was goin on vacation and did not tell him- I advised it was a warning- that it will happen real soon(putting in 14hr days in the friggin cold-)

Leave DH alone- he has done his time, and can do what he wants.

Let's not forget that the late/great numismatic scholar Walter Breen wore them to every show I ever saw him at. Not that there's anything wrong with that!
