I'm not rich! I'm a collector first and a investor second. I love to collect coins but I want to see them grow in value through the years also.I've been collecting for a few years and I would like to collect MS and PF 65 Liberty seated and Barber coins and maybe EF 40 and AU 50 Bust material but the fact is I can't afford that kind of stuff like a lot of you folks.I bought 4 Barber half dollars today at a coin show. They were all common dates but they were nice original choice no problem coins all the way, 3 graded in the VF range and one a Fine. All four coins were just over $200.I have found that I enjoy looking at coins like this just about as much as the high priced stuff as long as it is nice for the grade.I would like to hear some of your opinions on coins like this.---------------I'm not suggesting having all of your collection like this just a segment of it. And what do you think the investment potential of these coins are?

Buy what you like and what you can comfortably afford knowing that you might not ever get any of your money back from the coins.
Certainly fits my pocketbook.

Answering only the last question, and offering strictly my own opinion, and not claiming to be R.S. Yeoman, I would say that the relatively readily available supply of such coins will render them a below average investment compared even to other numismatic items - which themselves are highly speculative.
Try this test: Take a group of coins like you have described, walk up to a random sample of tables offering such items at any coin show, tell them you have a few coins for sale and show them yours. The level of enthusiasm you see today is probably a good indicator of the enthusiasm level you'll see in the future.
I wanted a complete set of Barber Halves but VG is really the grade I can afford for the set.
So I am being very picky in adding the coins.
It might never make me a big pile of money, but if is a nice original clean looking set, it should have some retail value.
I would love a complete UNC Barber Half set but it would take me forever to finish and possibly never so.

AS PER THE ABOVE I ABSOLUTELY LOVE SUCH COINS AS THEY HAVE FOR SURE UPSIDE POTENTIAL AND WITH LITTLE TO NO DOWNSIDE AT ALL
feel that the ample supply limits the potential for price increases.
Since you mentioned the "investment" aspect I would do the same thing but go into slightly better dates. They don't have to be rare, but at least scarce or non-common. That might be a VF 1903-s Barber quarter or a VF 1858-0 quarter. These are still quite affordable and are very underrated coins. The 1858-0 quarter is rarer than a 1901-s Barber 25c (by far) yet can be bought for
$40-60 in VF. An XF at $75-$95 is a killer deal. There are many such
dates in seated/barber out there....and in other series as well.
Make your type coins underrated branch mints and you get a double benefit for your dollar.
