1810 Marriage Medal - NOT Napoleon!

This marriage medal commemorates the the nuptuals of Ludwig I, crown prince of Bavaria with Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen.
This piece is of more interest than may be obvious at first. The public celebrations of the marriage in a meadow near Munich proved to be so popular that they've carried on ever since. Over the years the event picked up the name of Oktoberfest...![image](https://us.v-cdn.net/6027503/uploads/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif)
Ludwig liked to fool around and it eventually led to his downfall. During 1848 his affair with Lola Montez and her interference with Bavarian politics resulted in his abdictating in favor of his son Maxmillian. He was also the grandfather of "mad" King Ludwig II, builder of Neuschwanstein and patron of Wagner.

22mm - struck on a silver ducat planchet.
The engraver was probably Joesph Daiser, a German medallist active in Munich from 1807-1827 and known to sign his work with a D. However Forrer doesn't list this piece specifically for him.
It shows a fair amount of weight adjustment on the edges of the obverse and has been cleaned in the past.
