Response to, and the rate of new members at WWW.SeatedDimeVarieties.Com have remained fairly constant after the release of the Seated Dime web-book during August 2004. Dealers that specialize in seated dimes are now listing coins according to the attributions contained within the web-book. Dick Osburn and JJ Teaparty are two dealers in particular. Several auction houses are also using the web-book for the more significant seated dime varieties. Given that the amount of serious seated dime collectors is limited, an effort is being made to increase exposure of the seated dime series, a workhorse circulating denomination for our country in the 19th century.

This summer, I will be publishing an extensive report on the Top 100 Seated Dime Varieties in the Liberty Seated Collectors Club's Gobrecht Journal. Building a set of the Top 100 seated dime varieties is a very significant challenge that will span many years and will require contacts to find the R7 rarity examples. The challenge in building a set of the Top 100 varieties is much greater than collecting a complete set of seated dimes by date and mintmark in VF-EF grades.

To stimulate more collecting interest in the seated dime series and with the Top 100 varieties, I am offerring free trial memberships to my web-book at WWW.SeatedDimeVarieties. This is a chance for the collectors of other U.S. denominations to explore an indepth analysis of the seated dime series and all of the 19th century minting idiosyncrasies that have been revealed by close study of higher grade pieces.

this is a gresat idea and will stimulate many memberships as after a month of looking and using it and having fun and learning then a membership fee or buy the book!!!!

less coffee which is terrible for you anyeays as i never have had a cup in my life and then fantastic fun with sreated dimes and i bet with one of the better varities cherry picked your price of membership will turn out to be free for a year maybe more

It's an awsome deal, there are some people out there (me for instance) that just want to have a physical book in hand to read rather than an eBook, you haven't considered publishing hard copies have you?

Unfortunately, I just do not have the bandwidth in my life to attempt a hardbound book. I know this is limiting acceptance of my research, but my career in semiconductors has me traveling to asia every other month. Its all I can do to maintain the web-book and stay current on national auctions. Maybe when I retire, but that will not be for a few years.

If you look over the web site, you will see that a hardbound edition would have to be several volumes and printed in color. I suspect the printing cost alone (not to mention all the formatting work) would be on the order of several hundred dollars. If you are interested, maybe Gerry would sell you the print rights
