" 1865 Plain 5 Snow-2 1 under 8 MS-65RD {PS} PCGS $5,500.00 See Image
A very important variety with a wide, wide repunched date, multiple misplaced digits and die stress marks. Finest known. There is a small spot by the I in AMERICA, but this only keeps the coin from a 66RD. The importance of this coin cannot be understated. It is an excellent example of an extremely blundered die "

The whole Head is doubled But you can see the Neck with the Naked eye ...

United States Of America is also Clearly doubled ..

The Date is Lightly Doubled That is what caught my attention..

This is a scan and pic it is the beast i can do right now .. i ordered a new minolta 4 meg with super macro but i wont have it for two weeks

Any opions

Hopefully I represented the doubling correctly by lightening the image up......

    Rick Snow has one
  • Did you notice the date after your original post? I didn't see a mention the first time. That at least is clear, congrats on your find. On the doubling, it's not clear even with the enhancement, but you would think Rick would mention it as a marker for the date variety.

    BigDave,

If you compare the date postions in relation to the bust point, you'll see that they are clearly from different dies.

well you are the expert what is it then ?

The eight has the knob on the right and is doubled on the inside upper loop , the six is doubled on the inside upper loop[the bust is completey doubled the neck you can see with the naked eye. United States america all the letters are doubled

if not like yours then what?

Did i find a new one?
