I noticed that the new March 05 edition of the retail pricing guide "coin values" shows incredible pricing gains on large cents, especially the scarcer dates, and varities. I wonder if this was brought about by the auctioning of the "Wes Rasmussen collection and other auction prices"
Some of the examples:
Chains showing strong gains in all grades Vg/ F 8.5k/14k now 12k/20k(ameri and periods a little more)
1793 wreaths VG/F 2500/4000 now 3500/5500
1793 strwberry leaf AG/G 100k/175k now 125k/250k
1793 Lib cap G/VG 2500/6000 now 5000/10k
1799's up very strong incl the 1799/8 F/VF 9500/20000 Now 25k/30k (wow, glad I bought mine at FUN)
1804 Vg/F 1400/2500 now 5000/6500
several of the classic head values are quite abit higher as well. 1809 Vf-20/vf-30 1100/1750 now 2500/3500
Not that the initial prices were accurate, but I wonder if this sale brought about the major price adjustment?
I noticed some adjustment in the Liberty nickel sereis as well, but not this substantial
