in the most unlikely of places.

This is the reverse of a medal of Innocent XI, featuring the then beatified Pius V.
I believe the robe commemorates Pius' defeat of the Turkish navy on October 7, 1571.

Circumstantially. I had ordered the item because it was an original medal of Innocent XI. I was not too interested in the reverse, until a close examination revealed the stylized naval battle on the robe.
