opinions please.

I am involved in a possible transaction with a seller on ebay for a 1996 SP PSA 10 Terrell Owens. On the SMR the price is listed at $265.00. Current Beckett priceguide has a psa mint Owens listed at $100.00. For some reason the Beckett does not list a PSA 10 price. Any way this guy is telling me that he wants between $400.00 and $600.00 for the PSA 10 Owens. Do I tell him to go scratch himself? Do you think the SMR is not updated to current prices?

Thanks

I'd say wait out a better deal. There aren't a lot of 10's out there but if anyone is willing to pay over $300 for one, they know something I don't, IMO. Obviously the SMR can be behind by several weeks when a player gets hot, traded, put in the starting lineup, sets a record, etc., but Owens has only played in one game in the last 3 months so I doubt it's that far behind. I'd say the seller is banking on (indeed on one knee praying) that you just can't live another minute without this card.

Yeah, your right. When I told him the SMR price and that I would not go over that he freaked out. He said $450.00 is as low as he would go.
  • Well then, that is where you leave it. He obviously doesn't want to sell is card badly enough to get rid of it, and there will always be another PSA 10 down the road. Stick to your price, and let him go fly a kite.
  • it's rather new card, there might be another that will pop up soon.

It's always better to stick your guns on prices, if you won't go over X amount, then don't do it, especially for a modern card.
Running an Ebay store sure takes a lot more time than a person would think!
