Grades in - Getting a better eye for Morgans

WindycityWindycity Posts: 3,501 ✭✭✭✭✭
Just got the results for six 1896 Morgans from an original roll which I picked up about a month ago. I picked out the best six and got 3 MS 65's and 3 MS 66's. Here's a picture of two of the coins which I took in a flips prior to submitting. Great toning and a beautiful coin.

WindyCity: That's fantastic to have even had the opportunity to select 3 MS-66's and 3 MS-65's out of a single original roll of 1896 Morgans!!

Statistically speaking that's got to be quite an anomaly to have six such well preserved coins out of 20. I also commend you for having a great eye to have selected 6 top quality gems out of the bunch!

Just out of curiosity, did you buy the roll sight unseen?

    Thanks!

I bought the roll from a local dealer. Had a chance to peak at it before I purchased the roll. I saw a couple of the beautifully toned coins a snapped it up. I will post a better picture once I have them back from PCGS.
