Check the grades of the coins being offered in the market place

As I mentioned several months ago, we are now seeing a decline in the grade of coins from the super
MS and PR 67s and 68s to MS and Pr in marginal65s, 64s and 63s. This may mean that the lofty grades
are being sequestered in collections, or being held back for still higher prices. As the quality of coins appears
to be dropping, this could be a warning sign . After the sale of the really great collections of the past two years,
we are now seeing the sale of lower and lower quality coins. This may be all that is now available in quantity for sale
but it makes one think of a yellow warning light.
When you buy a coin, if you have to agonize over it for days, then return it.
Either you like a coin today and tomorrow or you dont. If the quality of a coin is really not up to the standards you
have establishedfor your collection, then doont buy it. What good is a cheap coin if you really dont like it.

You know what I really like, are those Walker proofs. But I'm not budgeted for that kind of expense right now, to be colllecting a set of proofs. Ya know, now that I'm typing this I think a set of proofs is what I really want.
Damn! It's not easy being a disciplined collector.
<< <i>I'm starting with Walker short set at MS-64, since they seem to be affordable and I think I need to be a bit conservative until I know more about what I'm doing. But now that I've bought two MS-64s, I'm wondering if I'd be happier with just one MS-65 instead. And...if I had two MS-65s would I wonder if I'd have been happier using that money to buy one MS-66?

IMHO 1 in 66 would be better then 2 in 64

As the prices for lower grade (new collector) coins go up, more will start appearing
to meet the demand. The lack of high grade coins may mean that prices will move
higher for these soon.
