Values of 1925 Norse Medals?

I enjoy collecting a few U.S. Commemoratives which were somehow authorized by congress on the flimsiest of excuses (Cincinnati, Bridgeport, Washington/Carver, Eunice Shriver,,etc.) Congress also authorized an octagonal medal for the 1925 Norse American Centennial, which is included in some folks' early U.S. Commemorative collection. I think the design is a little crude but outrageous: looks like a Viking wearing pasties on the obverse. I'm looking for the more common thick variety.

PCGS slabs these, but as far as I can tell, does not post prices for them on their online price guide. I haven't been able to find them in a Graysheet. The Red Book lists them, but I haven't bought one in two years, and never put much faith in their pricing.

I'd like to know if I can afford a thick Norse Medal in PCGS MS-64 or 65. If not, how much should I pay for a raw AU on eBay?

    these [rices should help you out young man

    and it seems to me you are better to buy a choice or gem norse for a few hundred that is graded by one of the major services like pcgs than go on sleezebay and get an au raw and not be ahppy with it as i bet the prices are close for a nice choice coin in a pcgs holder vs a raw au

    just my two cents and this gives you something to think about

    in the end you make your own decision

    Thanks, Michael! A nice slabbed 64 or 65 thick Norse seems well worth it to me.

    It's also been a while since I received the compliment of "young man". It was almost two years ago when a cashier last carded me for buying beer in a grocery store. The same day a younger cashier at the White Castle gave me my first senior citizens discount (5 cents) on a cup of coffee!

    Any recent prices on a Norse THIN in MS 65...

    I bought one in an NGC 65 holder last year and was curious as to how I did... meaning: how badly did I get burned ?

    I'd suggest getting a thin medal. Much smaller population, and not much more money to get one.

    PCGS MS 65 Thick = cost me $525 in Sept. 03. Its a beauty. Very light edge toning.
    NGC MS 65 Thin = cost me $1600 in March. 04. Blast white and looks undergraded.

    For type, I'd suggest getting a MS 63 - 64.

    100 matte proof gold pieces struck 53 melted net 47 a trial piece kept by sinnock total 48

    75 pieces struck on a silver plated copper bronze planchet could be as low as 50 there are record discreprencies
