These just arrived in the mail today........I'm thinking the 1901-O might go back for another try. It is in a OGL holder. It looks nice and simial to a 1900-O I cracked out of a PCGS OGL and it came back an MS66. What do you think?

  • Very nice coins, and based soley on the pics, I like the 1901-O as a 65

Brian: They are both pretty coins. It may be tough (IMHO) to get the 1901-O into an MS-66 holder with the relatively weak strike over the ear.

I would have thought both where 65 if you did not say the grades.

    Two nice looking coins however.

I think the reverse of the 1879-S is like an MS65.8......not quite an MS66, but obverse is a no brainer so I can see why it's in a 66 holder. The 1901 looks MS65, and I don't think if you submitted it 100 times it would come back as a 66.....I wouldn't woory about it...just enjoy the coin...who cares about the plastic image

I haven't seen an awful lot of them, but I like your 1901 O better for the date than I do the 1879 S. Not saying they aren't nice coins, they both are, but I'm impressed with the luster on the '01 O an it's overall eye appeal, something that date isn't noted for. The '79 S coins are noted to be nice coins as a group and this one is no exception. Bottom Line: You done good!
    Enjoy!
