Do we like this 1896 Morgan?

It was not easy to capture the PL surface under the toning in a picture. Good mirrors under the color -- print @ 6 inches or so as is, if you dipped it (oh, my!) who knows? Only a few very light hits & barely any scuffing on obverse; one deep bag hit to R of wreath on rev, and that's about it for marks. Your thoughts on grade? Appeal? I know it's next to impossible from pictures, but come on, give it a stab...

I rarely encourage dipping, but that may be one that would clean up really well. I would guess it's most likely a 64pl.....

I really like the look of that and I think a dip would ruin the original look. Looks very clean and the toning may be hiding some marks, another reason not to dip. From the pics, I'd say MS64

From the pictures, I don't think there is enough frost to deserve a PL designation, but I could be wrong

Thanks for your input! Just for clarification, I wouldn't dip it. I like the originality, although I don't care for the horizontal schmutziness on the reverse nearly as much as I like the obv. Just threw that in as a hypothetical. I like the toning scheme a lot, that's why I bought it when I did. I'm trying to decide whether to keep it.

Dont dip it..........go the ms70 route and then do the acetone thing................I have had the best luck with that.
