I try not pick on other's coins, but this Ike is one...

heavily bag marked coin to be in a 65 holder.

  • I'll be the first to admit my grading skills are pretty poor but i would have never thought 65 by looking at that coin.

    It looks beat to me.

I've bought a handful of MS63-64 Ikes over the last couple of months and all of them look like hell. If mine are graded somewhat accurately then I'd agree with the MS65 grade, I thought it looked pretty good. I assumed that because of the size a large number of bag marks is expected.

  • I too, have noticed that a lot of high grade Ikes look beat up.I think they're more lenient with them because they're hard to find with few hits.

'72-P's come pretty bad. It's a decent strike and a very gemmy reverse though the obverse is marked somewhat.

  • Could be too that some of that chatter is on the plastic and not the coin...

I hope its the plastic. That coin looks hammered to me. I had a have a type II in a 63 holder that looks nicer than this coin.
