When eBay suspends a seller AFTER you pay

The seller is gone, no way to look up his contact info. eBay won't share any info beyond saying he's been suspended and his auctions removed. Plus if he's suspended he's probably a scammer and neither has my merchandise nor intends to give a refund.

I can file a PayPal claim, but the Buyer Protection page says I only get my money back, minus a $25 processing fee, IF there's money in the seller's account. How likely is that, with a suspended scammer? I paid with my credit card and can file a claim there, but then PayPal will lose the money and dump me for not going through their system.

What else is there?

Double check looking up the contact information. I was able to get it after a seller went suspended on me around a year and a half ago.

Next contact any people that have left feedback for that person. Explain the situation and ask nicely for information. I was able to confirm the person I had sent payment to actually lived at the address. He was a buyer.

If the seller is still unresponsive file Paypal and CC company claims. Then write a letter addressed to his wife explaining what splendid thing her guy is doing. He may not be married, but if he is he will be in deep with the Mrs.

Get your money back and make his life as miserable as possible so he won't be tempted to do it again.
  • Just attempt to get you r money back through Paypal then if they cannot give it back that way then go to your CC company Paypal will not dump you in that situation. Usually the only time they dump people for going to their CC companies is when they do it without letting Paypal attempt to get it back first.

I had a seller go NARU less than 4-5 hours after I sent a Paypal payment. I immediately disputed the charge with Paypal noting that the seller was NARU and emails had bounced. I had my money back within an hour. Good luck to you.

That's what I did, immediately filed a Buyer's Protection claim with PayPal despite a suggestion that I give the buyer time to deliver the item. We'll see what happens.

Update: PayPal refunded my money. I take back one or two of the many nasty things I have ever said about PayPal.

Paypal didn't refund your money. They got it back from the seller. There is a difference.

I'm glad it worked out for you.
