Opinions on this 54Proof Roosy

I have this gorgeous toned 54 proof dime that has some awful slide marks across the face- the reverse is a killer but the face---the face--- This coin is one of a nice toned set that all have some slide marks. Is this market acceptable, or a loser? Give me your opinion good or bad.

  • If that's a proof, my vote is loser. Those scratches just kill it.

PCGS frowns on slide marks - would be lucky to make PF64. Save your grading fees.

I was thinking a PR62 due to the Obv slide marks. Tough call, but I think it would grade.
  • If the toning was jaw dropping.....I would send it anyway knowing that the coin would get hammered from a grading stand point.....that coin is not so I would just keep it in an album or 2X2 and enjoy the coin as is. image
  • Market Acceptable? Sure, looks like a nice coin I'm sure some folks can put some price on it.

Good or bad? It is what it is. Few coins are perfect in every respect. You have a good coin with unfortunate slide marks on it.

Are you really asking if you should certify it? In that case I'd say it wasn't worth it. It looks like a nice coin but I agree with Cameonut it may grade 64 or so. I have an older proof set with slide marks. Those slides really can damage proof coins, darn them.
