Stolen from an Ira Stein auction

Why do you think this is a scam? The coin in the Ira Stein auction never sold on Feb 18th. Perhaps he now owns the coin and/or is selling it for someone else. He has a return policy, and the price is not out of wack. Please enlighten me.

If you watch Ira's auctions, he often ends them early. I'm sure he has many outlets for his coins other than ebay.

Secondly, this one had a Buy It Now of 3,000 for a coin that's obviously worth $20,000 or more.

The wording in the scam auction is EXACTLY the same as Ira's original. Additionally, the pictures are the exact same pictures.

The seller in the scam has bought and sold furniture and dolls in the past. So, his/her first auction, he/she decides to sell a 20K 20th century rarity? No way. Hijacked account.

Anyone know Ira well enough to email him and ask if he still has ownership o fthe coin ? If he does, then the powers that be at Ebay should yank the scammer off their system.

It IS a scam as the coin has been sold to a dealer for over $21700. I have contacted eBay as well as teh seller but am not hopeful that they'll do anything about it. You say the BIN price is NOT out of line? How did you arrive at that conclusion. That's how these thieves work. Make a really low selling price for a key coin and cheat the niave bidder out of his $$. They also hijack the person's pos. fedback and use it as their own. They did this 2 or 3 times with an 1856 FE 1c I sold for $19750 on eBay and after I reported both instances to eBay, I got a reply that my password must have been compromised. That's total BS! Have they never heard of cut & paste?
