David Hall Please bring back the Regency Holder

I know they are expensive, but I have at least 5 coins I would l like to get holdered in these fancified holders. Anyone else like to see a limited run (rerun) of the regency holders?

  • I'd like to have them available because you could pay to have certain things like provenance that are interesting about your coin. The problem was they were too big and were misused. For example the 1892CC "possible proof" Morgan sold at the 2005 Heritage Fun Sale. No one seriously thinks there were any '92 Branch Mint proofs in CC-- (there were 12 of the following year). So they could be used to mislead uninformed buyers into thinking that PCGS agreed with what was noted on the Regency (sometimes called "Legacy"-to show coin history) Holder. PCGS would have to be carefull what was printed, but in some cases it would be informative if what was said had been documented.

I think they failed miserably when they were out. Myself, I think another design is warranted for a premium slab.

Morgannut2....Pcgs could limit what is written on the slab. PCGS printing a label "Possiable Proof" was unwise if they didn't agree with it.

nwcs.....A new design would be a great idea. image
  • Less holder, more paper. Nice if your coin had a confirmed story( ie. ex: Max Mehl, ex. King Farouk, and lot XYZ at Stacks 1988) sort of a history you could show.. On some eye appealing classic dates in lower MS grades, it would be a plus instead of always focusing on the top grade and "crackout" potential. I'd pay a LOT more to PCGS for the extra work. But they were WAY too big. Hey even on the hated Moderns--I've got a quarter that was ex: President Johnson--not worth much but historically interesting to me.
