Baseballs browning..

What causes this? The sun? Oils from your hands? I have a snow white UDA Mantle ball and would like it to remain snow white.

I have seen an article on some of the older balls that were made in haiti that had a much worse problem than some of the other balls. I know there was an article somewhere on this...maybe in SMR? A lot of other balls, it's just the oils from peoples hands, which is why I always hold them by the seams when I hand them off and I hold it in the tissue paper until I'm ready to give it to someone to sign. I have seen people put yellow transparencies inside the ball cubes before to help prevent fading. They just cut them in squares and set them inside the ball cube. Doesn't look all that nice, but you can still see the auto and it's supposed to keep it from fading I guess.

Don't know if that helps you or not.

I have a Mantle ball that is yellow because it was shalaqued and that caused it to fade to yellow over the years.
