Picture Thread: Post the First Coin You Ever Bought!

I'll start. To celebrate my newly improved imaging capabilities, I'll post this 1916-S Merc. It was 1980. The American hockey team had just trumped the Russians at Lake Placid. I had inherited some coins from my great grandfather, and I was excited to get more. My dad told me if I was going to collect coins, I should pick a series to collect in so I didn't wind up with a random accumulation of junk. I decided Mercs were cool because I liked the lady with wings on her head, and *almost* all of them were affordable on my seven-year-old means. I decided I wanted one from 1916, since that was the oldest, and with a mint mark since that was more exotic than without. The 16-D was out for obvious reasons, so I bought this coin:

dont know why this thread didnt get more responses, neat idea for a thread. Wish I had a picture of the first coin i ever bought.......it was an 1880 IHC in good.

1 bust, seated, barber, merc and roosie
took em out of the holder years ago, still have the first three

Anybody else? Doesn't everybody still have their first? I know this one has withstood some rather exacting purges within my collection...

My first coin collection was stolen by a so called classmate friend when I was in school!

First and last for about twenty years. A dealer in Nevada sold it as real. I was young and learned a lot with that deal.

My brother spent my first coin collection to purchase a joint...........so no I don't still have it.....I believe it was a 1907 IHC in ef45 condition though

I don't know if this was THE first but it certainly was among the first. I was around 9 years old and naturally it wasn't in a slab at the time.
