Can you clean coins with a jewelry cloth, 100% cotton, without affecting grading?

    Rubbing a proof coin would be an extremely bad idea...you will definitely cause hairlines.

    Gently rubbing a little haze off a mint stae coin is usually OK and often effective.

    Trying to rub off anything other than a light haze usually doesn't work.
