I used to laugh at that statment and thought nobody would believe that, but I was looking at some proof Jeffersons I bought years ago
from differant places and they both have what apears to be somewhat light markings on the rim by what I'd have to say wire cutters or that nature, they are a 1941 and a 1942, was this a practice to handle proofs around then does anyone else have proofs that bear these marks, I only noticed it when I pulled them from the 2x2s I bought them in. and as for never touched by human hands, well could monkeys have packaged proofs at the mint ?
