Let's play "Find the MK that caused the qualifier"

I sent them two of these, so they even had another one to compare the print patterns with... there is a tiny red mark on his neck, but it's there on both cards. There is also a tiny little black marking between his shoulder and the bat, that is printed on both cards as well... so... something tells me I got shafted with a MK qualifier... Anyone see anything I'm missing?

  • Couldn't really see any markings per se, but on the front of the card towards the bottom left corner (right above the"M" in Mickey) just to the left of his rear end, is that a printing bubble or just from the scanner? Also, on the reverse, in the cartoon caption in the upper right corner, is that a tear through the "s" in Mickey's or an eraser mark?
Sorry I couldn't be much more help in this.

Most probably a well erased pencil mark. You may need a blacklight to see it. Those tiny marks you mentioned wouldn't give the card an MK qualifier.

My good friend, college fraternity roomate, fellow baseball card collector - huge KC Royals fan...he is still sick about losing Beltran. Baseball so badly needs a salary cap so that small market teams don't lose their stars.

WHEN DID PHILLIES BECOME SMALL MARKET?? I THOUGHT PHILLY IS BIG TOWN?

Phils are big market now but up until a few years ago their cheapskate owners wouldn't spend the necessary money to resign their stars - Schilling, Rolen to name a few.

Why all the yelling lately in your posts?

And yes, baseball needs a salary cap as well as a salary floor.

Ha, sounds like the same cheapskate owner that bought the Dodgers a couple years back.

Any invisible wax on the back that you can see if you turn the card just so? I have received MK qualifiers when there were absolutely no marks of any kind, but there was a slight amount of imperceptible wax on the reverse that the grader saw with a loupe or felt with his fingertips. The ol' pantyhose trick doesn't seem to work as well on the non-glossy reverse.

I've checked the card up and down, under a blacklight, under a bright light, under a loupe and there is no mark. There is no wax either, as a matter of fact, I don't think you would ever find a Venezuelan card with a wax stain because I do not believe they were ever issued in wax packs. That is largely unknown however, how they were distributed, but my theory is that they were all distributed through vending machines, similar to the way Exhibit cards were distributed.
