How long before you NEG feedback on eBay?

I have an auction that ended 11 days ago and I still have had no communication from the winner. How long should I wait before I report the no-pay to eBay and leave this guy a negative feedback.

I have been dealing with eBay for years and have never had to deal with a deadbeat bidder, so I really don't know what the requisite time is to wait.

Thanks.

If I have no communication whatsoever, then after 7 days, I file a NPB alert. In fact, I had to do that recently with a buyer who had feedback of nearly 1,000. No communication after two invoices and one email reminder. Did the NPB and what do you know? I got a payment within a couple of hours. I just don't understand people.

Anyway, I would go ahead and file a report with eBay. If payment is sent, then do not neg. If no pay after another 7 days, then neg the buyer. If however, comunication is sent, try to clear the matter first.

I have sent two invoices already. I sent a reminder tonight about still owing money. I will file the NPB on Thursday and see where it goes from there.

If I have not been paid by March 4 then I will neg him and relist the coin.

    Thanks for the advice.

  • I've been selling on ebay for over 5 yrs, and I give them 10 days, starting the day after the Auction closes. This will drive them off dead center one way or another. then get ready to hear the excuses. Good luck.

  • I usually just call them if it's been that long with no response.

Ebay says that you have 90 days to leave feedback and I think it's 45 days to file an NPB report. That is from the time that the auction closed.

  • Sometimes I hear nothing out of my buyer and think they have backed out but a few days later I get a check or money order in the mail.
Beware leaving a NEG sometimes they will NEG you back even though you have done no wrong.

Even though I have 100% good feedback rating, I am willing to risk it so other will know of a deadbeat bidder.

I will give them a little more time just in case "the check's in the mail".

I used to think the same way until I got two retaliatory negatives on the same day from non-paying bidders.

"Warning" others won't do much good, most sellers don't look at the feedback of bidders, and there is not much you can do to stop them from bidding on your auctions if they snipe.

The most important thing you can do is file the unpaid item claim. Once a bidder gets three, they're gone.

If you must post negative feedback, wait until 30 days after the auction closed. Avoid name calling, and stick to the facts. Use something like "30 days after auction no payment and no contact".

I usually check feedback, so it is interesting that my leaving feedback may not do others any good.

I may need to rethink whether it is worth it.
