NGC priceguide... should I cross it over?

Is there a site to show a price guide for NGC graded coins like pcgs has? Am wondering about a selling price for a PF 70 Ultra Cameo 1988W Olympics $5 Gold. Any one know where I could look it up or know off the top of your head? Thanks much

  • Look at the ebay and heritage sales for the best prices. Guides are designed to make retail buyers feel good about having overpaid for things.
  • Would it be wise to try to cross it over into pcgs since they don't seem to list any as having been graded at PF70 DC? What would my chances be?
    Thanks

Yes if you could get it in a 70 holder....I would think your chances would be very slim at getting it to cross....PCGS just doesn't want to hand out 70's no mater how nice the coin is!!!
  • Look at the coin with a strong 8-10x. If you see anything, any mark at all, forget it.

(just my opinion) NGC grades much the same as PCGS on the classic coins but NGC grades much more liberal than PCGS on the modern stuff. Some say NGC gets looser. Personally I think they are more consistant. It's PCGS that applies a tighter, double standard, to modern coins.

when you break the coin out of its slab and put it in an airtight and then into a pvc free flip

then you will need a third price guide for unslabbed coins

    now what is it worth??

then you take the coin in the flip to get a cash offer from a marketmaker in such a coin that has ready buyers.......... then you got the real market worth of the coin
